EUSOG to perform Threepenny Opera at the Fringe!

EUSOG return this year after two very successful Fringe 2009 sell-out shows; 'Rent' and 'The Pirates of Penzance', to perform the Brecht and Weill collaboration; 'The Threepenny Opera'. Join them in the dark and corrupt streets of Victorian, London, where notorious criminal Macheath (Mack the Knife) leads an immoral gang of thieves. EUSOG's version of this highly stylised and satirical musical puts a fresh spin on the show and you can be part of it!  For audition information and the date of time of the open meeting head over to the threepenny pages at www.eusog.org/shows/2010/threepenny

Now Accepting Proposals for Fringe 2010

Calling one and all..!

Fancy yourself a Director, Producer, Musical Director or an Assistant at the world's largest arts festival? Your time has come!

EUSOG are looking for budding MDs, Directors and Producers to come forward and put on a show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which this year runs from the 6th to 30th August 2010. You can apply individually or in groups (it won't effect your chances either way) and all you have to do is meet with the committee to discuss your ideas and plans. The best proposals will then be selected and funded!

If you want to apply all you have to do is let us know your intentions by e-mailing proposals@eusog.org by the 20th February 2010 with your name, any others in your team (if applicable) and your proposed show or role. For more information, guidance notes and a full list of applicants please visit eusog.org/proposals.

Just over 1 Week to Go!

That's right, Ruddigore opens at the Churchill Theatre a week on Tuesday!  It's all coming together and looking both hilarious and scary (often at the same time!) and the cast are really looking forward to the show.  The girls however remain unimpressed with Chris's (Robin Oakapple/Ruthven Murgatroyd) scary face; he's still got a week to practise though!

If you haven't booked or reserved your tickets yet get in touch on 07940968312 or book via the website at www.eusog.org/tickets

We look forward to seeing you soon!

50th Anniversary Subcommittee Instated

In case you didn't know, Savoy will be 50 years old in 2011! Dealing with the monumental task of celebrating so much EUSOG history is quite a challenge, but we are delighted to welcome Louisa Casson, Mary Clare and Nick Clelland to our new 50th subcommittee who will be organising the event. If you have any suggestions or would like any information, please e-mail them at 50th@eusog.org - and watch this space as the dates will be confirmed soon!

Student Festival Success

EUSOG is proud to announce that it's two contributions to Edinburgh University's Student Festival were a resounding success. We held a "Ruddi-Cabaret", showcasing some of Savoy's budding talent at it's best, and "Scratch G&S", a new piece of writing by our very own Geoff Lee, both of which raised nearly £300 for the society. Thank you to everyone who got involved!

Audition Information Updated

Note if you are singing the non ruddigore pieces in your audition for Ruddigore that Sam (our Musical Director) will want to hear a bit more of each of the ladies songs.  For more info and to see the music take a peak at the auditions section under Ruddigore 2010.

Good luck to everyone with the auditions!
