Welcome to the home page of the Edinburgh University Savoy Opera Group.

EUSOG was founded in 1962 by Edinburgh students to promote and perform the operettas of W. S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan. Every year we perform at least one G&S show, the last being The Sorcerer at the Church Hill Theatre. We have also put on a wide variety of other shows of a high standard along with productions in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Our repertoire by more contemporary authors include works by Stephen Sondheim, Gershwin and Puccini.

Announcing EUSOG's 49th Annual Ball

Before the 50th must be the 49th. Dust off your dancing shoes and join us for an evening of singing, feasting and merriment that promises to be the social highlight of the year! Tickets cost £30/£37 (TBC) and will include entrance to pre-dinner cocktail parties, a champagne reception, dinner, a ceilidh and an after-party for those who don't want the night to end. As always, though, there are a limited number of tickets available so be sure to get yours well in advance. You can reserve your ticket with a deposit of £15 by e-mailing committee@eusog.org. Tickets for just the ceilidh and after-party will be available in due course.

50th Anniversary Subcommittee Instated

In case you didn't know, Savoy will be 50 years old in 2011! Dealing with the monumental task of celebrating so much EUSOG history is quite a challenge, but we are delighted to welcome Louisa Casson, Mary Clare and Nick Clelland to our new 50th subcommittee who will be organising the event. If you have any suggestions or would like any information, please e-mail them at 50th@eusog.org - and watch this space as the dates will be confirmed soon!

Student Festival Success

EUSOG is proud to announce that it's two contributions to Edinburgh University's Student Festival were a resounding success. We held a "Ruddi-Cabaret", showcasing some of Savoy's budding talent at it's best, and "Scratch G&S", a new piece of writing by our very own Geoff Lee, both of which raised nearly £300 for the society. Thank you to everyone who got involved!

Audition Information Updated

Note if you are singing the non ruddigore pieces in your audition for Ruddigore that Sam (our Musical Director) will want to hear a bit more of each of the ladies songs.  For more info and to see the music take a peak at the auditions section under Ruddigore 2010.

Good luck to everyone with the auditions!
